The JUNE apology

Those of you who have ever been involved working with or for a large organisation will know that if the top people are a bit iffy then there will be problems. When your organisation has been working well with good leaders then the new leader had better be, at the least, okay. Alas, back in 2018, in our Anglican (Episcopalian) church we'd just lost our excellent vicar. Adjusting to the new vicar our bishop had recommended proved impossible. She was meant to be a trained vicar but couldn't find her way round our prayer book to give a proper service, was dirty, rude, unkind and a real demon from hell! Known as the Bag Lady in the town, her bullying, cruelty and abuse of parishioners was horrendous. The archbishop, Philip, and our bishop, Stephen, refused to hear genuine complaints led by the Lay Ministers, and followed up by both written and verbal detailed complaints from many parishioners. Our full church became a rapidly emptying one as our Christian outreach collapsed under her barrage of abuse. Along with a core of parishioners I stuck my neck out to try to get Andrea McDougall to work with us and save St Luke's instead of screaming that St Luke’s was hers - 'My church. My way'. Most people gave up and left, I stayed to protect our heritage church building from Andrea's attempts to remove 150 year old pews, the pulpit, and do structural damage. My charming vicar didn’t like that and on February 23rd. 2019, during the exchange of peace in our 10.30 a.m. service, she sent her favourite bully boy, David Sutton, dashing down the central aisle to grab me and bash me up whilst she hurried down the side aisle to open the big porch door, then hustle me out of the church. I was then banned from my church because, according to the vicar and her wardens (Who weren't even church on the day I was attacked.) I had attacked Sutton!!! Despite angry and furious parishioners who saw the attack and said so Bishop Steven allowed Andrea to ban me. In hospital that night the doctor and nurses registered a heart misbeat, a fibrillation, which has now grown into a malfunctioning misbeating heart. The top chambers can't pump blood properly so I am flat on my back trying to adjust to blood thinners and antibiotics in the hope that we can keep things going. My medical records pre the attack show no heart problems at all. I sent a letter to our new bishop, Anne, telling her I blamed her vicar Andrea McDougall for my damaged heart and would like an apology. Nearly two weeks later and still no response. I am not the only Anglican to be so disheartened by the thoroughly unchristian behaviour of our clergy.
