Your Monthly E-Book Treasure Hunt for a Good Read.
Now
that is some road! It's Arthur’s Pass through the Southern Alps, in
South Island, New Zealand. My home. I hadn't seen this stretch before
and boggled at the engineering skills involved. No wonder it took so
long to build. It's a fantastic road trip and the rail trip is as scenic
too, but I look down that gorge and wonder how those first peoples ever
managed to find their way through. It's exciting tramping but dangerous
as it looks so easy to access on tracks now. It's mountain country and
the weather changes swiftly and drops from sunny day to icy winter in
minutes. How did those surveyors find the way? It's questions like that
which make me write historical fiction.
An interesting
selection of historical fiction available for you this month as well as
the usual jumble of novels which tumble out of writers' heads. I do
sometimes wonder about the Fantasy novels though, being a fan of Tolkien
and Patricia McKillip, who were scholars of Old English and that core
of work which is the base of our myths and legends.
Watch the deadlines and don't miss out.
